Vision Behind Behind The Carnival:
The Rann Utsav is hosted annually by the Gujarat Tourism Board. It was the Vision of the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi to create a new identity for Gujarat in the global tourism map in 2006 to promote tourism in India.
Where Is It Going To Be Held At?
The Rann Utsav will be held in what is popularly known as the Tent city in a small village called Dhordo, easily accessible from the Bhuj airport (approx. 80km). The festival begins on 1st November 2018 and continues till 20th February 2019.
What To Expect at The Rann Utsav 2018-19?
There are plenty of things you can do at the Rann Utsav like attending the many live music concerts performed by leading artists of India. It is one of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries of India. This desert sanctuary of Kutch has the largest seasonal saline wetlands in the world and is home many impressive species of wildlife. Although, the main highlight of this sanctuary is that you get to encounter the endangered Indian Wild Ass and thousands of greater flamingos lining the water body. You can also spot a wide range of animals and rare birds on your desert safari. The Rann of Kutch is also a great place to witness mirages too!

You can head to the Rann Utsav 2018 by taking a flight, train or a bus. The nearest airport to the Rann Utsav is the Bhuj Airport. If taking a train, it’s most convenient from Mumbai (15 hours). Buses to Bhuj are available from many places in and around Gujarat, and the road is in good condition. You can also do a road trip from Bhuj where you can rent a bike or a cab if you like.
